John Austin’s view of the boat Copyright crossing Nantucket Harbor, with Brant Point Lighthouse behind it. Commissioned by Margret’s grandfather for her parents, it has hung in her family’s homes for generations. The painting remains in our private collection and is not for sale.
CONDITION
Signs of age and wear are part of the piece’s history and character.
Painting: Small scattered marks are visible in the pale sky. The reverse shows staining and discoloration, as shown in the photographs.
Frame: The artist’s handmade wooden frame shows patina, discoloration and spotting, with visible gaps at the corner joints.
