In Martha Hale Harvey’s photograph, a fisherman carries an anchor and coiled rope beside his boat. His anchor is a different design, but the connection is familiar: small boats and the equipment that goes with them. Ours is a folding grapnel, now offered as a desk or shelf object for someone who likes having a reminder of the water close by.

STORY

An authentic small-boat anchor with four curved arms, a movable locking collar and a short length of frayed rope still attached. The arms fold against the shaft for storage and open out to be secured by the same collar. A simple, practical piece of marine hardware.

We like it on a desk or shelf, where you can appreciate both the shape and the way it works. The weathered grey metal and remnants of rope give it character, and its size makes it easy to bring a little of life on the water into the home.

Offered as a decorative object; not tested for marine use.

CONDITION

Vintage

Weathered condition with surface wear, discoloration and scattered marks to the metal. The attached rope is heavily frayed. The arms fold and the collar locks them in the open and closed positions. Please review the photographs for condition. Not tested for marine use.
