Ivo Eterović’s photograph catches a sailor working on a ship’s bow, using its anchor as a foothold. It gives a sense of the scale of this equipment at sea. Ours is an authentic small-boat anchor in the same stockless design family, sized for a desk or shelf. We like the strong outline and the contrast between the grey finish and rust.

STORY

An authentic small-boat anchor with two broad flukes, a straight shaft and an attached shackle. Its worn grey finish reveals patches of rust across the metal, particularly around the edges and fittings.

The Hall-type stockless design is also found on much larger ships. This example brings that familiar shape down to a size that works on a desk or shelf. Marine hardware rather than a miniature replica, with a surface we would leave as it is.

We like it as an object for someone who enjoys boats and the ocean. Offered for decorative display; not tested for marine use.

CONDITION

Vintage

Weathered condition with visible rust, corrosion, surface marks and loss to the grey finish. Rust is particularly noticeable around the shackle, shaft and edges. A small remnant of cord remains attached.

Please review the photographs for condition. Rust may shed or mark furniture; use a protective surface beneath it. Not tested for marine use.
