STORY

Two Peter Beard publications offered together: The End of the Game, published by Chronicle Books, and an oversized photography portfolio from Stern’s Spezial Fotografie series, individually numbered 03070.

The End of the Game brings together wildlife photographs, portraits, historical images and writing about Africa’s changing landscape. This softcover version includes Beard’s afterword for the 1988 edition.

Acquired in Japan in 2001, the German Stern publication includes text in both German and English, with large-format reproductions of Beard’s photographs, collages and diary pages.

The blue-bordered cover opens onto portraits, wildlife photographs and compositions layered with handwriting, drawings and smaller images. The scale allows the details around each photograph to become as compelling as the photograph itself.
