STORY
Hand-painted by the Chatham Sign Shop, this gold-and-green sign marked Uncle Abner’s Path in Barn Hill Village, the Cape Cod neighborhood where our family spent childhood summers and returned for holidays and countless weekends together.
Years outdoors beside Oyster River softened its colors and wore away parts of the painted surface, revealing the wood grain beneath. The fading, splits and worn edges reflect the seasons it lived through: sun, salt, rain and snow.
Today it hangs in our home, bringing a little of that neighborhood into everyday life. It reminds us of family gatherings, familiar faces and the many memories we made there. These signs helped inspire MAWKO Supply Co. and our appreciation for objects whose character grows with time. This one remains in our private collection, kept indoors to be enjoyed and passed on.
